The 2024 Summer of Recovery

And with that, the 2024 season comes to an end…

Last week we finished up the last 2 cities on the 2024 Summer of Recovery tour, and of course, we are already thinking about how we can make next year’s events bigger and better.

More importantly, we’re brainstorming ways to get even more people involved, so that as many Hoosiers as possible can hear the stories of recovery and get connected to the resources in their community.

That’s the whole point of the tour - to create events that inspire people to take their next step in recovery, and help them connect to local recovery resources. And in that process, we get to talk about Jesus, and what it means to experience not only recovery, but redemption.

Since faith is a valid pathway to recovery, we have more permission to talk about that than you’d think, given that it’s a state-sponsored tour. It is amazing (but not surprising) how often we hear that Jesus has been a crucial part of people’s journeys.

This year’s tour featured the Two Eight band (of course), as well as hip hop artist Kevi Morse, our friend and pastor Rashad Cunningham who performs as DJ SPEAK, and an Indianapolis-based artist named Chris Lewis who performs under the name Foosie.

Calling his brand of music “All-American Ghetto”, Foosie is an engaging mixture of musician, storyteller, and poet. A relatively unknown artist, this was his first experience touring.

Foosie learned the acoustic guitar while incarcerated for 20 years. He now plays and raps, sharing songs about the lessons he learned before, during and after his time in prison.

As an artist who is in long-term recovery himself and who has experienced spiritual transformation through Jesus, Foosie was the perfect addition to our tour. It was incredibly rewarding to use our platform to help continue his journey of redemption, help him find a wider audience, and expand his sense of how his story can help change lives!

Now, after going from the top of the state (Valparaiso) to the bottom (Evansville) and many places in between, we’re wrapping up the Summer of Recovery tour and heading into the next few events, which we’ll tell you about more in our next update!

For now, join us in thanking God for the continued opportunity to help people find their path to recovery by living out our calling to create music and moments that move people towards Jesus!

As always… thank you!

It is your prayers and financial generosity that makes it possible for us to do the work we do, and God’s Kingdom is going forward because of your sacrifices!
